thread on barrier stand
The work consists of a barrier stand with woven letters on a 5-meter-long belt. On one side, the words “BY STAND” are sewn in yellow thread, while on the other, “STAND BY” is stitched in red, using an alphabet so stretched that it appears abstract when viewed from the front and becomes recognizable only from the side. These words suggest a passive state and are sewn onto an object that forms an obstacle in the room, though it can be easily dismantled by simply pressing a button and lifting the belt. The authority they create, however, allows them to stand in their place, intertwined as they are.
